Clearline LIMS documentation is organized around the questions lab users ask while running the system: how to sign in, where to find work, how to register samples, how to enter and review results, how to generate deliverables, and when to ask Clearline Support for help.
These pages are customer-facing operating guides. They describe expected workflows and decision points without exposing private implementation details. Your tenant may show different labels, statuses, required fields, reports, integrations, or approval steps based on your lab's configuration and SOPs.

| Sample receiving team | Sample reception, labels, chain of custody, and bench sheets | Sample lifecycle, Sample partitions |
| Analyst | Worksheets and batches | Instrument imports, Run and review QC checks |
| Reviewer or approver | Review, approval, and publication | Reports and COA generation |
| Lab administrator | Administration overview | , Analysis services and profiles |
| IT or integration owner | System requirements | , |
What customers can usually do themselves#
A delegated LIMS User Admin can manage ordinary local users and approved operational groups. Client/contact records, routine sample setup, list values, and workflow actions require separately assigned operational or System Admin permissions.
Clearline-managed work usually includes tenant provisioning, major report template changes, SSO coordination, production configuration changes, new integration setup, data migration, and changes that affect regulated deliverables. If you are not sure whether a change is self-service, open a Clearline Support ticket before making it.
Tenant-specific caveats#
Some workflows depend on configuration rather than product-wide defaults:
- sample types, containers, preservation options, and required fields;
- analysis services, profiles, specifications, limits, and qualifiers;
- QC rules, worksheets, batching, and instrument import mappings;
- report templates, COA layout, signatures, disclaimers, and publication steps;
- client and project terminology.
If a page describes an option that does not appear in your tenant, treat that workflow as configuration-dependent and open a Clearline Support ticket with your tenant name, page URL, and the step you expected to see.
Support escalation#
Open a Clearline Support ticket from Get support when a workflow is blocked, a configuration option is missing, access is denied, or a report/output does not match the approved lab format. Include only sanitized internal references, the page URL, affected role or account type, current workflow status, what you tried, and exact error text. Redact sensitive values from screenshots. Do not attach regulated data, customer records, reports, credentials, or production exports; Clearline Support will provide a controlled transfer path if additional information is required.
