Analysis services and profiles

Analysis services define the work a lab can request and perform. Profiles or panels group common sets of analyses so sample registration is faster and more consistent. These records drive sample intake, worksheets, result fields, limits, QC expectations, reporting, exports, and API responses.

What an analysis service controls#

Depending on tenant setup, an analysis service may define:

  • display name and abbreviation;
  • method or procedure reference;
  • department, work area, or worksheet routing;
  • default unit and result type;
  • detection/reporting limit context;
  • qualifier options;
  • turnaround target or due-date behavior;
  • QC requirements or review expectations;
  • report grouping and customer-facing label.

What a profile controls#

A profile groups multiple analyses that are commonly requested together. Examples include routine panels, customer-specific packages, regulatory programs, or matrix-specific groups. Profiles reduce intake errors, but they still need review before saving a sample.

Operational guidance#

  • Use the approved analysis name and method expected by your lab SOP.
  • Do not create duplicate services to work around a missing option.
  • Review profile contents when customer requirements change.
  • Confirm units, limits, and qualifiers before reporting.
  • Open a Clearline Support ticket if an analysis appears in intake but not on worksheets, reports, or exports as expected.

What your team can manage#

Routine visibility or naming adjustments may be customer-managed only when enabled and approved. New methods, limit logic, report labels, profile design, QC behavior, pricing-sensitive setup, or changes affecting regulated deliverables are usually Clearline-managed.

Support escalation#

Open a Clearline Support ticket when a requested analysis is missing, a profile includes the wrong work, units/limits/qualifiers are wrong, routing is incorrect, or report output does not match the approved service definition.
