Customize reports and COAs in Clearline LIMS

On this page

Use this page to separate lab-managed report preferences from Clearline-managed report, certificate, and export implementation work.

What your lab may manage#

Depending on your tenant configuration, users with separately authorized report-administration permissions may be able to manage:

  • Report defaults exposed in the admin interface.
  • Label or sticker defaults when existing templates already support the change.
  • Client, contact, project, and sample-point data used on deliverables.
  • Analysis names, specification limits, qualifiers, and method references when your role allows those changes.
  • Review and publication steps defined by your quality process.

What Clearline manages#

Clearline typically manages changes that affect implementation, layout, or integration behavior, including:

  • New COA or report templates.
  • Client-specific report packages, logos, appendices, or conditional sections.
  • Custom EDD, CSV, Excel, XML, or integration export formats.
  • New label templates or printer-specific layout changes.
  • Report logic that pulls calculated, conditional, or cross-record values.
  • Changes that require deployment or controlled configuration outside the normal admin screens.

Request a report or COA change#

  1. Capture the report name, client, project, and tenant where the change is needed.
  2. Describe the desired output and why it is needed.
  3. Describe the current and desired layouts with sanitized field names or a synthetic mockup. Do not attach a real report, customer record, regulated data, credential, or production export to a standard support ticket.
  4. Note whether the change affects one client, one report type, or every report using that template.
  5. Send the request through Clearline Support.

Review before use#

  1. Generate the updated report or COA in an approved non-production validation tenant or controlled validation workflow before client delivery.
  2. Review client details, sample identifiers, result formatting, units, limits, qualifiers, signatures, and footer text.
  3. Confirm the output matches your lab's quality requirements before using it for client delivery.
