Set up SSO for Clearline LIMS
SSO setup connects your organization's identity provider to your Clearline LIMS tenant so approved users can sign in through your company account process.
Customer responsibilities#
Your IT team typically provides:
- Identity provider contact and administrator access.
- Approved sign-in domain or user group.
- Required metadata, certificate, entity ID, login URL, logout URL, and attribute mapping details.
- MFA, conditional access, and user lifecycle rules.
- A test user account for setup and acceptance testing.
Clearline responsibilities#
Clearline typically helps with:
- Tenant-side SSO configuration.
- Required callback or service details for your identity provider.
- Attribute mapping guidance for names, email addresses, and user identifiers.
- Coordinated testing before your lab switches users to SSO.
- Rollback planning if users cannot sign in after the change.
Setup workflow#
- Open a Clearline Support request and state that your lab wants to configure SSO.
- Identify the IT owner, lab administrator, and Clearline contact for the change.
- Exchange the required metadata and URLs through approved secure channels.
- Configure a limited test group first when possible.
- Test sign-in with at least one IT user and one lab user.
- Confirm account mapping, roles, and access after sign-in.
- Schedule the broader rollout with a support contact available.
Before go-live#
- Confirm how users should sign in after SSO is enabled.
- Confirm how password resets will work for SSO users.
- Confirm who can restore access if a user is locked out.
- Keep at least one approved recovery path available for administrators.
