Run and review QC checks in Clearline LIMS
QC checks help analysts, lab managers, and QA reviewers decide whether results are ready for review, need correction, or require escalation before reporting.
Prerequisites#
- QC materials, methods, limits, and review rules are configured for your tenant.
- Samples and worksheets have been created for the relevant method or batch.
- Your role allows result entry, QC review, or QA approval.
Run QC checks during result entry#
- Open the worksheet, batch, or result entry screen.
- Enter or import results according to your lab method.
- Review any QC fields, calculated values, flags, or warnings displayed by Clearline LIMS.
- Save the results when entries are complete.
- Do not advance results until required QC review steps are complete.
Review QC results#
- Open the worksheet, batch, result, or review queue that contains the QC records.
- Compare control values, blanks, spikes, duplicates, or other configured checks against your lab's acceptance criteria.
- Review any flags or warnings before approving the result set.
- Add notes according to your lab's quality procedure when a result needs explanation.
- Route questionable results to the correct reviewer instead of publishing or reporting early.
Handle common QC outcomes#
- Passing QC: continue the normal review workflow.
- Warning or out-of-range result: follow your lab's investigation and documentation process.
- Missing QC material: confirm setup, worksheet contents, and method requirements.
- Wrong limits or units: contact a lab administrator or Clearline Support before reporting.
