Results entry
Result entry records the values that eventually appear on reports, COAs, exports, and API responses. Treat result entry as a controlled lab activity: use the correct worksheet or sample record, enter units and qualifiers intentionally, and follow your SOP for corrections.
Open work ready for results#
- Open the dashboard, worksheet list, assigned work queue, or sample record.
- Filter by status, department, analyst, due date, batch, or worksheet as needed.
- Confirm that the work is ready for result entry, not still waiting on receipt, preparation, assignment, or import.
- Open the worksheet or sample result screen.
If expected work is missing, check filters first. Then confirm that the sample has assigned analyses and that your role can enter results for that work area.
Enter results#
- Read the method, units, reporting limits, detection limits, and required qualifiers before typing values.
- Enter numeric and text results in the expected format.
- Apply qualifiers only when they match your lab's data review rules.
- Add analyst comments when they are part of the official record.
- Save your work before leaving the screen.
- Confirm that the sample or worksheet moves to the next expected review step.
Corrections and rework#
If a result was entered incorrectly, follow your lab's correction procedure. Do not silently overwrite values if the record is already in review, approved, reported, or locked by tenant workflow. Use the available correction, retraction, or comment process configured for your tenant.
Import-assisted result entry#
Some tenants receive instrument output by import rather than manual entry. See Instrument imports. Imported results still require review of sample matching, units, qualifiers, rejected rows, and any manual edits made after import.
Support escalation#
Open a Clearline Support ticket when fields are locked unexpectedly, units/qualifiers are missing, a save fails, a result does not move forward, or imported results do not match the expected sample. Include only sanitized internal references, the page URL, affected role or account type, current workflow status, what you tried, and exact error text. Redact sensitive values from screenshots. Do not attach regulated data, customer records, reports, credentials, or production exports; Clearline Support will provide a controlled transfer path if additional information is required.
