Setup Object Reference

Use this reference to understand what each common setup record controls, how it connects to laboratory work, and what to consider before changing it.

Availability varies. Fields, labels, permissions, and enabled components depend on your Clearline implementation. Confirm tenant-specific behavior with Clearline Support before changing controlled configuration.

How to use this reference

  1. Start with System foundation for laboratory-wide defaults and audit context.
  2. Move through people, sample, analysis, quality, and material records in dependency order.
  3. Configure reusable workflow templates only after their referenced records are stable.

This reference covers 35 common setup records. Client records and day-to-day sample records are documented in their workflow guides.

Configuration boundary

Use approved change control for identifiers, calculations, specifications, report behavior, and other settings that can affect traceability or customer deliverables. If a record or field is absent, do not infer that it is enabled; ask Clearline Support to confirm the implementation boundary.
