Instrument Locations#

Defines the physical or organizational locations where instruments operate.

Example

Create “Metals Laboratory — Room 210” as the location for ICP-MS and atomic absorption instruments.

Instrument Types#

Classifies instruments by technology or functional type.

Example

Create “Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer” as the type shared by individual ICP-MS assets.

Configuration guidance: Keep the taxonomy useful for qualification, maintenance, and method compatibility; avoid model-specific types when model belongs on the Instrument.

Instruments#

Represents an individual analytical instrument or equipment asset used to perform work.

Example

Register ICP-MS-01 with its manufacturer, model, serial number, room, approved methods, calibration schedule, and data interface.

Configuration guidance: An instrument is an individual asset, not a model family. Preserve lifecycle records and prevent selection when calibration, maintenance, validation, or service state makes use inappropriate.
