Workflow and Reporting Setup Objects

Reusable profiles and templates that turn setup records into repeatable work.

Availability varies. The descriptions below explain common operational meaning. Fields, labels, permissions, and availability depend on your Clearline implementation.

Attachment Types#

Classifies files attached to samples, requests, analyses, instruments, or other records.

Example

Create a “Chain of Custody” attachment type so intake staff can classify uploaded custody documents consistently.

Core pieces: Name
Description
Connects to: Attachments throughout intake, chain of custody, bench work, instrument records, and reporting.
Configuration guidance: Use categories that help retrieval and retention, such as Chain of Custody, Field Photo, Instrument Output, or Supporting Document.

Batch Labels#

Defines reusable labels used to classify batches of related samples or work.

Example

Use a “Weekly Metals Run” label to identify a batch of samples grouped for the same production cycle.

Core pieces: Label name
Connects to: Batches and batch-oriented work views.
Configuration guidance: Use a small, stable vocabulary. Confirm what “batch” means operationally before building reports or automation around a label.

Labels#

Defines reusable labels or tags that can support classification and display in enabled workflows.

Example

Create an “Expedite” label used by an enabled workflow to make authorized rush work visually distinct.

Description
Connects to: Tenant-specific records and workflows where labels are exposed.
Configuration guidance: Because usage can be tenant-specific, document exactly which record types and views consume each label before relying on it operationally.

Worksheet Templates#

Defines repeatable bench-work layouts and routing rules for creating worksheets.

Example

Create a metals worksheet layout for Lead by ICP-MS with designated blank, control, duplicate, and sample positions.

Core pieces: Template name and layout positions
Analysis service
Method restriction
Instrument assignment or restriction
Instrument title/display behavior
Whether an instrument may be used multiple times
QC and placement behavior represented by the layout
Connects to: Analysis Services, Methods, Instruments, QC samples, and transactional Worksheets.
Configuration guidance: A template is the reusable rule set; a worksheet is the actual work record. Prove placement, instrument, method, and QC behavior with representative analyses before release.

Subgroups#

Provides an additional configurable grouping layer for analyses or report/work views where the tenant uses it.

Example

Use a “Nutrients” subgroup to place nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and phosphorus together in a tenant-specific work or report view.

Configuration guidance: Define the intended use before loading data. Subgroup behavior is tenant-specific and should not be confused with Analysis Categories or Lab Departments.
