System Foundation Setup Objects
Laboratory-wide settings, traceability, and shared vocabulary.
Availability varies. The descriptions below explain common operational meaning. Fields, labels, permissions, and availability depend on your Clearline implementation.
Clearline Setup#
The laboratory-wide configuration hub. It holds defaults and policies that affect identification, reporting, email, sampling, worksheets, pricing, security, and general behavior.
Example
Set sample identifiers to follow a consistent pattern such as LAB-2026-000123 and establish the default date, currency, and report settings.
- Core pieces
- Laboratory identity and contact details
- Sample and analysis identifier formats
- Date, number, decimal, unit, and reporting defaults
- Sampling, reception, review, verification, and publication behavior
- Worksheet and QC defaults
- Email, attachment, sticker, and report settings
- Pricing, tax, and currency defaults where enabled
- Connects to
- All setup and workflow records. A change here can affect future records across the tenant.
- Configuration guidance
- Treat this as controlled configuration. Record the reason for changes, verify the change through your laboratory’s approved change process, and avoid changing identifiers or report behavior casually.
Audit Log#
Provides a trace of recorded actions and changes for accountability, troubleshooting, and review.
Example
A supervisor reviews who changed a sample’s status from Received to Invalid, when it happened, and which record was affected.
- Core pieces
- Actor/user
- Date and time
- Affected record
- Action or transition
- Recorded change details available to the user’s role
- Connects to
- Workflow and setup records across the tenant.
- Configuration guidance
- The audit log is evidence, not editable master data. Access should be role-controlled, and the available detail depends on the action and enabled components.
